Case Study: Localizing Been & Done with Tolgee

Climacam wanted to expand the reach of Been & Done, an iOS app for tracking visited countries, by localizing it into Portuguese for the Brazilian market.
They partnered with us to translate the app and ensure easy client control over content updates.

Challenge

The main challenge was enabling Climacam to involve Portuguese-speaking users in editing the app's microcopy quickly, without giving them access to the code or requiring communication with non-Portuguese-speaking developers. At the same time, the app needed a high-quality translation and proofreading process for its release in Portuguese.

Solution: Tolgee

We used Tolgee, integrating it into the app to provide:

• Collaborative Translation: Translators and proofreaders used Tolgee’s web interface to ensure accuracy and context in the translations.

Process

• Translation & Proofreading: The app's content was translated into Brazilian Portuguese and proofread by native speakers from both Brazil and Portugal.
• App Update: Once finalized, the localized version was tested and released on time for a major travel season.

Outcome

The Portuguese version of Been & Done was released smoothly and on schedule, boosting engagement in Portuguese-speaking markets. Tolgee’s platform streamlined the workflow, saved time, and gave Climacam full control over the final product.
